Planning on moving to Metuchen eventually and was wondering if i can wash my car in the driveway.

I looked up some laws, and "Residential Car Washing Water" is allowed. Is it just water and not soap? Would buying/using biodegradable/eco friendly soap be better? Theres a storm drain near the driveway that says "No Dumping Drains to River".

If there is a law regarding car wash soap and you find the cop that is willing/determined to enforce it, you need to stop sleeping with his or her significant other.

The storm drains say no dumping in towns. So you don't pour oil, lantifreeze, or other hazardous materials, in the system.

I've only ever seen that be a problem during droughts

As an aside look up Optimum no rinse. It simplifies maintenance washes to a half hour and one gallon of water. I do this is an apartment where washing isnโ€™t allowed and get away with it.

A full detail/decontamination will still require a two bucket wash of course.

I use stuff like Wash Wax All by Areo Cosmetics or Chemical Guys Synthetic Detailer at work when i just do a quick rinse of all the dirt and spray it on and wipe off to clean/shine.

Iโ€™ve used wash wax all and itโ€™s pretty good. ONR is a fraction of the cost though since you buy it concentrated and dilute it yourself. One $20 bottle is good for 20 or so washes.

Nobody is going to give you a hard time unless you are doing it for pay, or like every other day, or are making a giant mess in the process.

I was brought before the town council because the sud to water ratio was too high when I washed my car. I had to take a 16 hour course on the dangers of letting suds run into the storm drain......

not serious FYI.
