There is, but again, due to lack of personnel & doing stock buybacks instead of maintenance

That video is heavily misleading- it’s from almost 10 years ago showing rails that had been abandoned for around 30 before that. They’ve since been repaired.
Adding on that the footage is shot to make the rails much more bendy than they are and is sped up and slowed down to exaggerate the effects.
No major rail lines look like that.

See, the first time I saw that was a couple days ago, and all that context was missing. Somebody linked to a newer upload of that, and all it said was ‘rails in Ohio / Indiana’. My bad for not looking into it, just searched for ‘Ohio wiggly rails’ to find it again because I thought that was relevant

Lack of personnel because they’re cutting back on payroll, not because they can’t hit some quota

None of that really matters if our infrastructure is falling apart anyways

We should have had more money for infrastructure.

So that's the third derailment in the last month so far? Seems like all this deregulation and mismanagement over the past few years has begun to show signs of karma. That, or some extremely dubious coincidences.
papercup617 t1_j8y8h6m wrote
There’s about 3 or 4 derailments a day, and has been like that for years. You just don’t normally hear about it unless it’s extremely serious like in Ohio.
HengeWalk t1_j8y93tz wrote
Appreciate the insight. A bit alarming to know how often it occurs.

Same company as the East Palestine derailment. Will self regulation be investigated since it isn't working or does the rail industry
bribedonate politicians enough to to look the other way?
