Was this done to stop Elon sending a submarine and calling the rescuers 'a bunch of pedos'?

Nope, Elon offered Erdoğan the new Totalitarian Dictator Bundle for only $5M a month and he was turned down. /s

“But Trump and Bolsanaro have already subscribed and they aren’t even in power any more”

/s (this is a joke making fun of the current mismanagement of the Twitter platform and not a criticism of the Turkish Earthquake response mismanagement.)

Interesting take: if Twitter is required for emergency response, should it not be public infrastructure?

If not, good on Turkey for shutting down a communication channel that will just add more misery and suffering to the human experience during this awful catastrophe.

Seems to me it would be useful as public infrastructure.

So if it is, it sure seems like the company needs to be regulated to provide a quality of service.

I agrée it is an interesting take. Even though I despise Twitter, I would want all communication channels possible.

Except they block it because of critical voices aimed at govt response and corruption, it's just suppression tactic.

I can't stand Musk but this is the Turkish Government doing this.

A lot of people (myself included) are disappointed with what is happening to Twitter and will use any inappropriate opportunity to ridicule Musk, even it if is only tangentially related to the subject at hand.

Im this case is a bad take, they need all methods of communication available and Turkey censorship of twitter is because people are criticizing him and his regime.
