Armed police notified that person with knife might be at loose. They are not asked to take any action.

That alert us incorrect, they are stood down.

They didn't care about the deliveryman, the cops just saw an excuse to shoot someone's pet and wanted to be prepared.

Sorry, as an American anytime I see the phrase "armed police" I assume someone or something is going to be shot.
