What is this headline? No where in the article does it state CCC are selling these devices, just that they bought some off auction and found and reported this vulnerability.

I know the CCC bought it of an auction and the Cambridge Dictionary and Webster says:

to auction = sell something at an auction

and they don't mention any other meaning for the verb form.

I‘m not a native english speaker, so that’s why it looked ok for me. Maybe the author has no dictionary as well..
