Not sure how big your building is, but the elevator is only used to load/move down to street level/unload. Any reason you can't work in tandem of the other people moving?
It's kind of a jerk move to commander the public elevator when it would impact so many residents.
Presumably more than one moving company can use the service elevator, no? It would be a bit of a dick move to refuse access of the service elevator to anyone else who wants to move on a particular day.
Unless you're moving out of a palace, the movers will probably not need the elevator for more than an hour or two. Couldn't you and the other party both just go at different times?
I hope so! We're not Succession rich and we're giving away a lot of big furniture ahead of the move so it shouldn't be a huge operation. Fingers crossed the other tenants will share.
I'm going to ask if that's an option - after emailing me about the double booking our management company just put out of office on so I can't talk to anyone. They're like this about everything which is why I double-checked the reservation.
Talk to your movers before anything. They might have double booked as well or they may be willing to reschedule so as to not screw up the rest of the day due to a log jam at the elevator.
