As others have said, it was an error between the billing department and the call center. Likely a (few) phone calls were due to go out, and it accidentally called everyone 🤦🏻‍♂️. If your account is in arrears you will get a “posting” which is a letter taped to your front door stating that your bill is past due. If you fail to pay your bill after a posting, you will then get a shutoff notice. After that is when you actually get your service cut off.

Same here. When i called them they were busy and told me to call back later. A bit annoyed at that response tbh.

For anyone who stumbles upon this instance or others, you did the correct thing. You should be skeptical because I immediately thought it was a scam from your description. Going to your known website, and not following and links or calling numbers sent to you unsolicitedly is the most secure move. Only thing would’ve been to call them directly from a number you can verify. Nicely done.

I live in Wheeling, but I got a similar call from my water department. When I called it turned out they had an old number on file and they were trying to reach the the person who now has my old one. Might be something simple like that
