The incline operators used to hire people to dress up and lurk around the stairs up Mt. Washington in order to scare people in to paying to use the inclines.

When I was a freshman at point park university, there was a well-known ghost in the dorms, which was an old hotel. The ghost was called "the shuffler," and it sounded as if someone was shuffling across the carpet. We would hear it in multiple peoples' rooms. The weirdest part was that you could follow the sound around the room. It always sounded like it came from the doorway, moved around the room, then back to the hallway. The creepiest time I heard it, I was in my room with my roommate. We were both on our beds, on our laptops, when we heard it come in from the doorway and walk to the window. Out of nowhere, the window blind shook. Not like a little bit, like someone grabbed a hold of it and shook it. It was pretty weird.

There are several books about Pittsburgh folklore (I think that one of them is a Thomas White book) that say that decades ago (I think early - mid 1900's), some guys would take their dates to the city morgue, and look at the bodies there for "fun."

There are a lot of fun ghost stories in Thomas White's books.

Personally, in my experience, I had an encounter with one of the ghosts once when I stayed at the bed and breakfast at the Jean Bonnet Tavern in Bedford County.

If you're into podcasts I'd highly suggest checking out John Schalkoskys few appearances on "I'll call you right back" podcast. They just covered a bunch of great ones recently and did some last year as well.
