One of our pipes looks like it burst (hot water). we've been trickling the water, but it wasn't enough. We've turned off the main line and are trying to get ahold of plumbers with no luck (so far we've called Mark Allen, Armstrong, J&A).

Does anyone have any emergency plumber recs? it's a boiler heater, which is still running fine. Second question, we turned off main water line but where do we go from here? Is there anything else we can/should do while we try to get help?

Edit: Thanks all - we found someone to come to the house tonight! Thank you for your helpful suggestions.

Is it your hot water heat? Or hot water tank line that burst? At some point your boiler will need added water to give off heat, if it’s that system that has a leak.

The line for the heater does not have a leak, it's the hot water tank line. It's under our kitchen, but it's not the direct line feeding out kitchen. About a week ago we lost water for about 24 hours due to a main break (WPJWA), and the heat seemed ok - just worried since it's pretty cold and we were trickling the faucets to keep them from freezing if they will all freeze now. We cannot get anyone out until at least tomorrow it looks like.

You maybe able to shut off the hot water heater and leave your main on so the boiler will still run ok.

Turn your main off at the entrance to your house open your highest faucet and your lowest faucet if you are that worried about freezing . I’m no plumber but that should drain most of the water out of your system and insulate the main coming in to your off valve .

I know this may be a bit late, but just throwing out another option.. I called McVay about 11:45 PM on Christmas eve for water in my garage ceiling, coming from the kitchen above. Was told the guy would call me at after 8 am tomorrow (Christmas Day). At 10 am yesterday, he called and said he'd be there in 20 mins. Got me taken care of and was on his way. I supplemented his pay with a plate of cookies and a few drinks. Hope you got your issue resolved OP!

Ours burst this morning as well and I haven't had any luck contacting a plumber. We've already given up hope on finding a plumber tonight and are going to try the first thing in the morning.

Let me know who you go with

Our area is Stanton Heights btw. And if any redditor browsing has a favorite plumber in the east end I'm definitely open for recommendations

Thanks for the rec - the pipe is capped for now but they are coming out to hook it back up to the hot water tank next week (earliest we could get - we have cold water so can do most everything else but showering at family for a week!)

We heard back from three people - the one for tonight ended up not working out - we’re going to have to try again in the am - will ping you with who ends up following through.

Vince Marino ended up coming out - our specific issue was the water pipe burst to hot water tank. For now he only capped it so we could turn water back on at all. We still have to have someone come out to fix the actual pipe. it was $125 callout plus parts.

Got in contact with him tonight after being ghosted by another plumber. Hopefully Vince or one of the others will be out tomorrow 😬

Thank you for the recommendation

He was a little gruff, but very helpful! I’m thankful he was available because so many places just weren’t taking anymore on.

Thank you for the recommendation!!! Vince valved off my kitchen and will be back Thursday to work on the burst pipe. Gruff but fair is what I would definitely call the man. Good conversation while working. Will definitely be hiring him again for my plumbing needs

Tube cutter plus some shark bites will take care of it if you can access the pipe.

Not sure where you are located, but my wife and I have used GI Plumbing in Bethel Park for some different projects and they have been the best I've ever dealt with. Their coverage area is pretty large, so you may be in luck!

Maybe try Benjamin Franklin Plumbing or Matt Mertz? Just trying to think of big plumbers who offer emergency service.

Sorry. That sucks.
