The civility thing is no big deal. Unlike many on here, I have thick skin.

All I said was I walk there. I never said it was Disney world. I walk there multiple times a week and live nearby. It's really not some terrible place, not much worse than any other part of the city at midnight. (I also never suggested walking anywhere at midnight or said it was safe to do so)
What does my credibility have to do with my statement. I said none of your posts about this violence ever gets any positive feedback. That has nothing to do with me. You're wasting your time. That affiliate link leads to adware. Plenty of clean affiliate links out there (ebay, amazon, etc). This one isn't.

a PUP is not necessarily adware, it’s any link that your boomer-ass browser plug-in sees as tracking you in any way. so in this case, an affiliate link will track the IP of someone who clicks it in order to give demographic information back to the company. please don’t tell me i don’t know what i am talking about, because you’re very stupid.

Nothing wrong with people knowing about a crime, but this guy exclusively posts every report of any violent crime in the city, and constantly promotes how dangerous the city is. Then proceeds to get, well, weird in the comments with anyone he perceives as disagreeing, as you can see here.

Seems like he’s fear mongering, but some of these comments are doing the exact opposite and trying to say crime is way down and there’s not a worry. That's cool, you can have your own preference.
But to be clear, I don't think people's issue is a crime story posted here, it's every crime story being posted. I would prefer this sub be a highlight reel of the most interesting/relevant/discussable things, not just a repository for every single story in any given category. I wouldn't want to hear about every single restaurant opening, wouldn't want every single concert, every single fire, every single violent crime, etc.
But, again, I'm just trying to help explain what you're seeing, not trying to change your mind on anything; you're obviously welcome to keep your own preference.

TLDR:
The violent crime rate has been dropping for decades in this city. There was a spike during COVID, that is true for every single city in America, but now things are regressing to the mean. Providence is a wonderful city and I have never felt particularly unsafe, but it is still a city. Use your brains and you’ll be fine.
And don’t let alarmists like u/Previous_Floor and his propaganda fool you into pearl clutching.
