As a Jew on Christmas, I'll let you in on a little secret of our people...

Almost all of them!

I'm not Jewish, but I know about this tradition. A few years ago, I introduced some family members to it.

Our family Christmas was put on hold because my dad was in a nursing home and we visited him. We had no plans for after, so I suggested that we go to the local Chinese restaurant.

I have nice memories of our feast. I picked out the dishes and explained the history. No one else knew....

I later mentioned it to a Jewish friend, who said - "Yes, the secret is out".

Happy Hanukkah. Merry Christmas.

Good majority of Asian restaurants are open on Xmas, this includes the South Asian owned fried chicken joints as well. Kennedy now Royal Fried Chicken or Crown Fried Chicken.

Tokyo Steak House in Fall River is open. It is absolutely delicious. You need to call and make a reservation though. And it's not too expensive.

I've eaten at Not Just Snacks on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas on years I didn't have more traditional plans. There is no place in Providence more reliably open than Not Just Snacks. The prices are superb, the food is good, and the staff is crazy nice.
