It sounds like you might need help understanding a few things:
Multiplexes play multiple movies in the same theater. So if you don't wanna see a big dumb CGI action movie, you can buy a ticket to see something else.
The advertised time for a movie at these theaters is the start of the theatrical trailers. So if you don't wanna see commercials before the trailers start then show up exactly at this time. If you don't wanna see the trailers show up 10 minutes after the advertised time.
No one is forcing you to do this, unless you're not an adult. Are you an adult?
Nothing about this post is specific to this subreddit or the city.
I quit going to movie theaters over 20 years ago for several of the same reasons you've indicated. Poor audio -- often uncomfortably loud, uncomfortable seats, high ticket prices, unruly guests, and outlandish food costs. The last time I was in a Regal cinema, was at the old Ridge Cinema in late summer of 2000. Tickets were $7.25. No way in hell I'm paying $22 for a movie ticket. I'll watch it at home, for free, where I can control the environment.
