My question is why are there so many car washing spots and crab boil places opening up?!

They find locations that the landlord couldn’t lease to anyone else. Literally no one

Is it money laundering? How big is the crab boil bag market?

You'd be surprised how much cash even a small carwash operation can rake in. I went to an auction at bankruptcy court for a small carwash a few years ago, and you wouldn't believe the checks people were willing to write to get their hands on the place.

As for the crab boils, I wonder if it's just an RVA thing or if they're popping up everywhere.

Those businesses are all property tax and there isn't much tax... IMO it's because we tax property value vs land value.

I mean a boil is like $20 easy and it's not that hard to make.

Also they charge way too much for the corn and potatoes. Like adding an extra potato is like $1.

Rent, employees, and everything. Otherwise restaurant biz would be the easiest to operate, and it’s not. It’s prob not as easy.
