We're considering replacing the floors in our single story house with vinyl wood flooring (and possibly carpet in the bedrooms).

Before I start the daunting task of pricing out the options in the area, I thought I'd check with my fellow local redditors first for suggestions (and who to avoid)!

We would be needing material, installation, and removal of old flooring.

Thanks in advance!

Clays Flooring on Bypass. They're excellent, family owned. Good prices. We have many rentals and they do our personal home too. Had them do the carpet and solid hardwood in our home this spring. Theyve done 15+ installations for us. Very happy customer.

Avoid Discount Dave’s. They did the worst job I have ever seen to my house and one of my wife’s Aunts place.

Do it yourself. Try a small room first. Ask your neighbors for help. I did mine and couldn't be happier and more proud. Lot's of good instruction on you tube.

I thought about it, we have some “questionable sounds” when you step in certain places. So I’m a little worried what we’ll find under the carpet.

I just want it to be done right, and I’m afraid I’d get 90% done and have to rip it all up to hire someone to do it correctly. Lol

Tear up the carpet and see if you can find the offending nails. Squeaky floors are usually from a nail that missed. One nail can be very noisy. A high end stud finder and 2" screws can eliminate most sqeaks.

I helped my neighbors save a few hundred dollars by moving the furniture and tearing out the carpet. Then he had the floor installed.

Just do what you can where you can

It's pretty easy just takes time and effort. Squeaky spots like the other poster mentioned are almost always nails that have come up. Hammer the nail back in so it's all flush again, then walk around for 30 minutes and listen. Everytime you hear a squeak drive a screw into the subfloor/joist under you. Eventually you get complete quiet.

Stoneridge Flooring Design in Nixa. Good people. A lot of different options and price points to work with.

I agree with mapping clouds. Discount daves was horrible customer service, bad sales , refused to be definitive on everything and jerked us around for a month.

We went with Mouerys
