Friend, allies, neighbors, I had a heck of a 2022 metal detecting, and a good portion of that can be attributed to the generosity of those on this subreddit, letting me detect their properties. On a couple of occasions folks even reached out to me to help them find something lost, which was good fun and I was happy to give back by helping out a bit.
The weather has been far too cold and wet to do much detecting in the last 6-8 weeks or so, but before too long it'll be prime detecting weather again, so I am trying to get some planning done in advance!
My 2023 goals include securing some more permissions for older properties in and around town, as well as doing more wilderness detecting out on old homesteads, the kind of places that take a decent hike to get out to.
So! If anyone in this community has any leads on any locations like that, please let me know! Yards or lots in town that have had occupation since 1950 or earlier are always choice detecting spots, but if anyone is like "hey I remember there being an old homestead cellar hole way out in the back 40 at my Grandpa's place as a kid" those kinds of permissions are big time on my radar this upcoming year as well.
Also, I am naturally kind of a loner, at least when it comes to my recreation time. My hobbies are my space to disconnect and be left alone in my own headspace, but if there are others who'd be interesting in trying the hobby out, let me know, I am happy to let people give it a try if they are interested, I have a few spare machines.

Have you tried to get permission from the owners of Pythian Castle?
