I’ve worked in a number of large corporates and every time we had to deploy anything in country it had to go through their telecom provider and it couldn’t be above a certain encryption strength.

Massively different. If it is shown that a case in the US has no lawful biases the entire thing can be dismissed for lack of evidence and all the evidence gathered is tainted and can't be used.
