Dont look at this lawsuit from that angle.
Look at it from the angle of the rights groups. They are not suing Zuck to get money or anything. They are suing to cause him a headache so that he gets off his ass and deplatform the trolls.
Cause end of the day, what would have more effect? The rights group targetting hundreds of anonymous online trolls. Or one dude who doesnt want to be associated with another genocide.

“A lawsuit against Facebook’s parent company Meta was filed earlier today in Kenya’s High Court over its alleged role in fueling violence and hate in eastern and southern Africa.
The case claims that Meta has failed to employ enough safety measures on Facebook, which has in turn fueled conflict that has led to deaths, including of 500,000 Ethiopians during the recently ended Tigray War.
The petitioners, Kenyan rights group Katiba Institute, and Ethiopian researchers Fisseha Tekle and Abrham Meareg, whose father Professor Meareg Amare was killed during the Tigray War, claim Facebook amplified hateful content, and failed to have enough personnel, with an understanding of local languages, to moderate content.
The petitioners are demanding that Facebook stops and demotes viral hate, have enough content moderators at the content moderation hub in Kenya and creates a restitution fund of $1.6 billion.”

If they sue in the US, then Facebook's protected by Section 230, unless 230 goes into a massive reversal. Not very likely but it's possible.

Very sad. If Meta is in it just for money and will exploit people to do so, they need to give it up. Let someone else with a goal of bettering society have a hand at it instead. The world doesn't need companies that profit from anger and fighting. From article:

You realize that Facebooks entire business is ads and serving ads for fractions of a cent to poor people isn’t in their best interest as the cost per click/impression is incredibly low.

Meta isn’t innocent; but what about the army of trolls that was (possibly hired) posting hate speech that divide the people.
