Better headline: Corrupt politicians held up nation's first right-to-repair bill

Best headline, now that all the updates have been added: ARS writers don't know shit about New York laws, and this bill has already passed with or without the governor's signature.

Every time I see the word lobbyists, I imagine the most corrupt third world politician, Venezuela level of corruption.

The American dream.

Just an FYI: It's not uncommon for legislation to sit unsigned by an NY governor (current or past) for weeks or months. Even ones with strong bipartisan and public support. That doesn't always mean that the governor is blocking it. They could let it become law without weighing in on it. Essentially abstaining.

>Once a bill has passed both chambers, the Governor has 10 days (not including Sundays) to sign or veto it.
>
>If the Governor doesn’t take any action in that time, the bill automatically becomes law. Vetoed legislation can still become law, if a ⅔ majority of each chamber votes to override the veto (but to be honest, this rarely ever happens).

Lobbyists are another way big corporations warn society not to "fuck with their profits".
