The Jesse/Jane storyline in breaking bad is awful

And puts a damper on season 2 (would force me to rate it in last place if I rate the seasons)

I can understand why she is an integral part of the story as >!her death is important as it allows Walt almost total control over Jesse as she was blackmailing him. I also believe this scene was the final transition from Walter White into Heisenberg!<

But it doesn’t mean their scenes together are not unbearable. Currently doing a rewatch of the series but I have to fast forward their relationship. They seem to have no chemistry (lol) and the time spent with them take from other much better storylines.

I love their scenes, their love story is tragic. They both wanted to be better people and be happy together but let addiction and Walt got in the way.

I would say this storyline was a flop in the sense that it kept Jesse as an "addict" trope for too long in the story, but him dating the mom was worse.

Both were good for Walt, but overall I thought had too much time with Jesse + girls that added less than it should have

Agree to disagree, but they had fantastic chemistry. Two young, artistic burnouts craving approval from their respective father figures. Both wanting to be better but coming up short.

I found her to be an okay character at best. I have no clue why some people love her. The way they got to together was also pretty meh.

I actually agree with this. It's one of the more cliche and cookie cutter stories in Breaking Bad. Stereotypical couple that is a bad influence on each other and the girl gets between her boyfriend and his partner/mentor.

It's kind of annoying that so much of Jesse's story has to be tied to her and she's some sort of sacred calf for him. The constant shipping is also not all that great for me.

It kinda feels like the most low effort part of the show.

This was Walt at his lowest upto that point but he was absolutely right about one thing: those two wouldn't have last a week on their own. If by some miracle neither got killed or OD'd, they would've ended up like that ATM couple.

season 1 was made shorter due to the writers strike, which allowed jesse to not be killed off which was the initial intention to be the season 1 finale had it been full length.

I think season 2 suffers a lot from writing issues as well, probably as a result of the writers strike.
