Was a huge fan the first several seasons. I haven't watched it since Cult which I hated. But the new season sounds interesting. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Red Tide was one of the best AHS stories in years. Really wish it would have been a full season instead of NYC
Whadya mean? You didn’t like the absolutely awful 4 episodes of alien conspiracies? Hoo boy
Yes. Red Tide was awesome! Should have been a full season. Aliens should have been its own. Season as well. It was fun!
Yep I loved the first half of double feature but it didn’t stick the landing the alien stuff was just idk man I didn’t like it haha
No. It's so bad I've stopped watching it. Peaked in the Jessica Lange years and it's been downhill ever since.
Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Kathy fucking Bates... American Horror Story had some incredible women cast.
Which is why I think the first three seasons were peak. Each season had a different take on the horror genre where each episode felt like an unexpected surprise, with stellar performances around the board. Now it’s just meh.
Season 2 was the worst. Asylum I believe it was. If it was another season my apologies in advance. But yeah, Asylum was unwatchable trash.
And throw in the Queen, Angela Bassett along with Lily Rabe.
It's wildly subjective. I absolutely loved season 10, especially the first half, which felt like a love story to Stephen King.
“Especially the first half” seems to be the consensus with most AHS seasons lol
Double feature is two stories split into one season so at least this time it makes sense
Oh I had no idea, that’s kinda interesting. Just this current season is a double feature?
It's last year's, and yeah it's a one off. It was honestly very good and thought intriguing. (First half)
I prefer the American horror stories (single episode stories) myself these days
I think it depends on your interest honestly. I’ve been a fan since S1 aired though and couldn’t even finish this most recent season. I’m a gay man and it even focuses on LGBTQ+ so you’d think I’d be into it but it feels way more like a crime drama than a horror story.
Same here. I tried to watch the first 2 episodes thinking it would be up my alley, but I can't get into it.
Yeah, it’s even kinda comical. I mean the main villain is literally called Big Daddy.
No
It’s fun to watch, but most people agree it’s not as good as it was back in its Coven days
The 80’s one was that good.
No
Season 11 was pretty great imo. The last scene is really something
Is that the New York one? I really enjoyed it too. A lil too homoerotic for my taste but overall great.
No.
I didn't care for American Horror Story: Double Feature. I enjoyed Season 11: NYC. Season 11 felt like a reset. I thought Russell Tovey and Joe Mantello were really good as Patrick and Gino.
Red Tide season was just Ok. I really enjoyed the NYC season personally. Made me think about what it would have been like in NYC in the 80's as a gay man. I looked up the death statistics and if the season "wasn't enough of a horror story" for you, the stats alone should be. I'll leave it at that.
Red Tide was the best season in years without a doubt, final episode just left a sour taste in a lot of peoples mouths. Should have been a stand alone season. Also, agree with the horror of S11 but would have fit better as a different variation of American Crime Story or a standalone season imo. Pose did a better job of focusing on the aids epidemic…
Once lady gaga showed up the show took a terrible turn.
Not that she was a terrible actor but it felt like the writing got SUPER lazy.
Totally agree with you about the drop, that was the last full season I watched.
However, that season does have my favorite moment in all of cinema: Matt Bomer dancing nihilistically to Hotline Bling.
That was the last season I saw and couldn't even finish it.
I lost interest shortly after Roanoake tbh
So many haters. I’ve enjoyed like 75% of the entire AHS series and definitely think it’s a great show.
Show was mostly very good then Lang left. Hotel was a shit show. Actually didn't hate Roanoke or Apocalypse but couldn't make it through the 1980s one.
I disagree hotel was good Roanoke was a shit show
Season 11 is so far off base of what AHS was, it feels like an entirely different show. Horror in the way you would expect is practically non-existent.
Was it ever? I feel like the show had its “Jump the Shark” moment in Season 1 with Dermott McDermott and his “crybaiting” scene. AHS: Coven was entertaining because of Cathy Bates, but I haven’t liked any other season sufficiently to finish one.
Tearjerking.
Bruh, take my upvote and leave.

Wasn’t that scene like 15 minutes into the first episode?
Hey, that scene is a gift. A gift!
I didn't like season one so I can't really comment on that but it's good campy horror to me. Like is it "good"? No. But I enjoy it
Double feature was good. And yes, even death valley. But of course there are some bad moments as it's always the case with AHS. But overall I enjoyed it.
I personally thought that apocalypse, 1984, and NYC were pretty good
No spoilers:
The last season (11) ran out of ideas pretty early and dragged on for 3 episodes after the main plot was resolved. There was some closure to various character arcs which (subjectively) felt unnecessary, like perhaps too many episodes were ordered and the writers needed to pad things out.
That "padding" amounted to various forms of artistic expression and targeted pure emotional impact which perhaps lands differently depending on how well the viewer relates to the community, time period, and themes depicted.
By comparison, season 10 was literally spilt into two entirely separate stories. If season 11 was similarly half as long it would have felt more in line with earlier seasons.
The penultimate episode of NYC was really rough. I loved the season but I rolled my eyes when I realized what was happening
AHS is textbook hit and miss. And also textbook Ryan Murphy, in which the season starts out good but halfway through it goes off a cliff and never recovers
But does it get better? It’s mad subjective
Roanoke I actually kinda liked thanks to the mockumentary portion but once it shifted, it got bleh
Apocalypse to me, lives and dies on whether Murder House and Coven were your favorite seasons
1984 i really enjoyed due to the 80s slasher vibes
I only seen Red Tide but it was absolute dogshit so I gave up before the Alien half
And NYC I gave up after the first episode.

I enjoyed Apocalypse tremendously, it actually brought me back to the show after quitting around the end of season 3. 1984 was also a lot of fun, but as always, went on too long. Didn't get too see Double Feature yet. NYC was intriguing at first, but always felt a little bit like they ran out of ideas.
You liked that they went back in time and hit satan with a car? Worst season ever, fucking pure garbage. Such a strong start and beautiful first few episodes only makes the last half hurt worse
It’s still good, but not great. Cult and Apocalypse were the last A+ seasons. Everything afterwards has been B to C+ mainly because the multiple themes switcheroo at the half season point makes it seem like the stories aren’t fully fleshed out. Roanoake could have been better because it felt like 2 stories hastily mashed together. I liked 1984. I really like elements of the current season, but they should stick to 1 theme per season. An entire season of aliens would have been awesome!

??? You can stop after season 2

I stoped being invested after season 5 hotel. I was still interested then I saw the previews for Ronake and was not interested still gave it a chance and found it boring. Then 2 years I watched Apolyscape which was not bad but not amazing.

We watched the 2-parter season with the writer/artist family and then the alien/A52 story. At this point I'm starting to feel bad for the cast becuase the pay must be good otherwise I don't see why they'd want to be associated with the show. The stories are shit and the horror is almost non-existant.
To be honest I think you can debate if American Horror Story has ever been good. I finally quit watching and didn’t watch this most recent season, but of the 10 seasons I’ve seen I think only like 4 of them are good - and I think only 2 had satisfying endings.
The concept of the latest season is good but the execution is bad
Y’all are some troopers. S1 was fun and I thought a slightly original take on ghost stories but I quit a few episodes into Asylum. Just too many plot lines, all disconnected, felt like they were trying to do them all at once
I picked up on it when freakshow was airing on TV and tried to watch the back catalog. I was obsessed with murder house and I've watched it repeatedly. Enjoyed asylum and watching the cast become completely different characters. I was absolutely disgusted by like the first 5 minutes of coven, because of the gross racism portrayed( yes I know it's fiction and it might have even been relevant to the plot. And no I'm not a POC, and yes I know its stupid to be upset on their behalf) I couldn't stomach it... And I consume alot of fucked up media. I listen to true crime every night to fall asleep. I have gone back to watch the three seasons I enjoyed but haven't done anything more than look into the plot of the newer seasons. In part due to my supernatural anxiety, masking from some past trauma. And the other part because I was disgusted and didn't want to be disappointed again.
Coven was good.
American Horror Story was good!?! There were like two watchable seasons, the first one and the TV show season. Rest were……a TV show I guess
Implying it was ever good is a questionable take
No.

Season 10 was actual garbage; I honestly enjoyed the 80s slasher theme from S9 though
Haven’t finished S11 but not enjoying it at all
