Some guy said to me that Game Of Thrones 1-4 is greatest strech of tv ever atleast 4 season stretch and I kinda agree tbh, tbh Cause those seasons are maybe beyond everything I've ever seen On Tv, However I'd say Lost 1-4 is just as great, maybe any 4 season stretch of The Simpsons from it's peak era can be a contender, or The Sopranos can be chosen too however I've yet to watch the Sopranos.

I'll also say Six Feet Under' season 2-5 are also legendary. & currently Succession 1-3 are on a great run however I wouldn't say this run is better than Game Of Thrones' peak.

Stranger Things started strong at one of the best season 1 I've ever seen but I think the last two seasons are not of that level still very good though, however i think season 4 has the best episode being ep7. Also maybe The West Wing, Person Of Interest, The Wire or Mad men can be a choice.

I wouldn't say Breaking Bad though cause for majority of it's run it had the same plot & Tede Beneke thing makes the pacing slow down immensely.

What do you think ? Maybe to me right now it's a dead tie between Lost & GOT . I know it's not fair to compare in between different genres but it's just your opinion.

The Wire. Season 5 is overall good, but those first 4 seasons are essentially perfect. Maybe it isn't everybody's show, but for what it's trying to do, it doesn't miss a single step.

What about wire season 2-5 ? Wouldn't that be a better strech

Because season 1 is great and better than 5.

SirAren OP t1_j54jbnw wrote

Really? I thought the consensus was season 5 is the best

−14

AndrewUndershaft t1_j54k7hs wrote

Nah, most definitely not. Most people say it's the weakest, because the whole serial killer plot is rather unrealistic and some characters behave strangely. Personally, I still like it, though. But not the best by a long shot. (For me, it's 2. Bit of an uncommon opinion, though.)

Season 5 is usually considered the worst, although at first some people dislike season 2, because of change of focus from the hood to the docks.

However, once you see the entire show, Season 2 is perfectly placed and and works amazing with the rest of the show.

The Expanse.

By all means, that show is just an incredible stretch through to the finale.

SpreadYourAss t1_j54fxf4 wrote

Does the show gets better after S1? I recently finished that and definitely did enjoy it, but I can't say it was incredible or anything. I could see the potential, but it felt like... it wasn't polished enough yet.

thegoodcunt t1_j54kk5c wrote

I was the same after season 1. Dare i say it, even season 2. I really enjoyed it but i wasn't hooked until season 3, then it became one of my favourites.

It's weird though because when you later revisit those earlier seasons the quality is there, you just didn't fully appreicate what they were setting up.

Deep space 9 final 4 seasons better than expanse. Expanse ended 1 or 2 seasons too early.

Expanse has an entire book trilogy of events after the series events end, but there is also a massive time skip.

LOST. I watched it when it aired and of course things were very different then. No streaming and binging back then. But for me it was groundbreaking and all 4 seasons are great in their own way.

I realize part of the experience is completely nostalgic but I have rewatched a couple of times since and it still holds up.

yeah, it was mean of me to comment that here: it's something I could have just as well commented under dozens of other postings in these last few months.

I like ratingraph - the website where imdb user ratings for individual episodes of a show get turned into a graph; and I wish that ratingraph had a detailed search function where you could just enter something like "4 seasons, all with an average above 8/10, and all four averages ascending" etc.

(...plus, I always wonder if some of these questions could be answered with "Yes! (a female-skewing show like) 'Knots Landing' had 4 popular seasons that got better and better" but the reddit demographics just always give us "House" and HBO instead, lol.)

Doctor Who

Christopher Eccelstone's season through David Tenant's 2 seasons (and specials) and the first season of Matt Smith? And in writing that out, David Tenant had 3 seasons (Rose, Martha, Donna), and I'm okay leaving Matt Smith out completely.

In conclusion 9th & 10th Doctor.
