I’ve been doing a bit of DIY in my garage and have used a fair bit of a spray adhesive (about 5 cans) in a 3x3m room with no ventilation (had a respirator on). Felt quite dizzy and left the room. Read the can and realised it contains dichloroethane and can cause cancer. felt nauseous all day too but that went away after a full nights sleep.

A day later and I have a pain on what feels like the top of my left lung. Best way to describe it is it feels like a pulled muscle when I take a big deep breath in or twist from side to side. Pain has been there for 2 days now and no sign of it easing. I’ve been reading a bit on dichloromethane and from what other people have said, it’s not something too worry about (unless it was excessive) Should I be worried I’ve done some permanent damage? Is it maybe just an inflammation? Or am I just being paranoid? TL;DR

You need to seek medical attention immediately according to this safety sheet I found on the internet.

Seems like a good time to talk with a medical professional.

Was the respirator good quality, properly fitted, and rated for organic vapors?

I’ll have to check. Knowing my luck, it isn’t. I’ll get a medical professional to check with me asap.
