Thanks! , would be interesting to know the etymological source of the word. Seems like something that could originate from the colonization of the west.

Cherokee alphabet is really interesting. I don’t know if they still print books and newspapers using it but I know they did for a while. They taught school with it to.

Not in that area - my first Girlfriend was “Knifechief” and my best friends were the “Whitekillers” - that part of Oklahoma has a lot of those kind of names

Don’t worry: I’m fairly certain the Cherokee don’t give a flying fuck what you think of their surnames.

Native Americans should run their traditions and practices by you, from now on.

That was not what I was saying and you know it. Strangely enough when searching for the ancestry of the surname, it came up with a Welsh origin!?
But my point is i don't like violence and it's a violent surname, that's all I meant.

> i don't like violence
An insanely reductive viewpoint given the circumstances
JustPlainRick t1_j23dssx wrote
What does that mean?
Granite-moose t1_j23j9nv wrote
"I don't like violence" is wildly simplistic, violence isn't inherently bad or good. For example domestic violence is bad, but defending your homeland is good. Punching a stranger is bad, punching a stranger who tries to assault your wife is good.
JustPlainRick t1_j23jub2 wrote
Alright then i understand, thank you for the explanation. English is not my native language and sometimes the sentiment of the sentence gets lost with me. I agree with what you're saying.
Granite-moose t1_j29g8sy wrote
No worries English is largely a bullshit language that we're all trying to figure out

Would love to see Harriet Tubman on currency. A slave, Union spy, the only woman to lead daring raids that set fires to plantations and free approximately 750 slaves. All while navigating a river mined by the Confederacy and mapped by Ms. Tubman. She couldn't read nor write and yet outperform every general north or south.
