Us class 4 road folks know that it is indeed a season of mud

Not saying we haven't had to deal with substantial mud, but this is just the fake mud season that crops up during a mid-winter thaw. The lower layers of mud are still frozen and won't get fully involved for another month, I think.

It's fake mud season followed by a freeze and then we'll have fake spring and another pre-mud season before the real deal.

Here in Lincoln at 1300 feet I’ll give it a 5/10 meaning at no point between the pavement and my house so I sincerely fear for my undercarriage. Mostly just frozen ruts, can’t drink coffee and drive kinda thing. After an inch of rain tomorrow we’ll see.

My road in the MRV is terrible (Waitsfield), it’s a hot topic of debate on FFP.

Upper Valley reporting— dirt roads are pretty damn slick and then super bumpy when things freeze. It’s unpleasant!

Well, all the ice and snow melted down enough on the unpaved road I traverse to reveal every pot hole again. Obnoxious, but at least not anything I’m sliding around on or getting stuck in. Just makes me look like a drunk swerving all over the road to avoid the worst of the attacks on my poor Hyundai‘s suspension and tires.
