Hi, this is going to sound crazy, but me and my husband used to order from this place called "Goody's" in Petworth frequently but they closed quite a few years ago, we really miss them! And there is one item they had that we can not seem to find anywhere else and I'm hoping maybe someone here might know of a place that has it locally? They were called "Munchers" and they were little fried balls with chopped up potatoes and jalapenos inside! Any help is appreciated.

Also maybe not to make this thread totally specific, feel free to share your favorite Chinese places in Petworth?

Munchers are in a lot of DC takeouts--at least they were pre-pandemic. My local Yums has them on the menu but hasn't had them available when I've checked for the past year or so.

Dang, maybe we are just really unlucky trying all the wrong places! The search will continue ☹️

Try this google maps food searching trick: open maps.google.com zoom in/out to the general area. Enter *munchers* in the search box, then look through the results for phrases like "Their website mentions munchers", or "On the menu: munchers". Good luck!

Was that the place with the two sided menu? Chinese on one side and Mexican on the other?

The veggie croquettes from sushi hachi on the hill sound exactly like what you are describing, but they are large and thin almost like a MCDs hash brown. They are fried but not super greasy either- really worth a try.

Those sound like jalapeño poppers.

No these were definitely different, they only had a tiny bit of jalapeno inside, not like a hollowed out pepper.

Yeong Fong on North Cap and R has munchers. They're not especially good (though I like their other Chinese foods).
