Who would even consider risking lives for this though?

The argument I've heard (not my argument, I'm just passing it on) is that it's mostly about reducing the number of unwanted Haitian migrants. For countries like the US and Canada, turning them away or sticking them in detention centers would be bad optics domestically but so would allowing a huge influx. So stabilizing Haiti could be a more palatable alternative if anyone has a good game plan for pulling that off.

You ever heard of mercenaries? Some people don't even fight for money (Ukraine volunteers) but because war is what they know and war is what they can help with.
Haiti is making a good choice, they don't trust their own forces however foreigners who cannot be bribed with like $100 will totally take on the task.
Now Haiti is not asking for mercenaries though, it is asking for something better than peacekeepers (mostly useless). Such as US intervention.

To clarify, my comment is in reference to world governments and their associated defence forces.

The same people who join the military to have the government's blessing to kill people of a demographic they don't like. There's no shortage of them. A lot of them went to fight both for and against Ukraine already.

How about the UN!….yeah, I laughed too.

They should stop asking for foreign troops. Instead they should ask for money to hire mercenaries. That's an easier sell.

Forget it! Let the Haitians deal with it themselves. Maybe then they'll finally get their heads out of their a**
