Seriously. "provocative stances"? That is way too kind.

Don't vent to Reddit, talk to your town hall/town manager/select board. He'll need to meet zoning requirements and get permits, etc, this is not a done deal.

Demographically, they are similar. If you have specific questions about Montpelier, I can probably help but I don't know Middlebury as well.

I'll tell you what, we're the type of people who aren't going to be too upset if people from South Dakota don't like us.

Absolutely get reservations. I would not expect to find openings at the popular state parks on summer weekends.

It's not a constant snow storm here if that's what you're worried about but yes, there will be snow and it will be cold. There are lots of outdoor activities, you will need the proper clothes for them. Otherwise, there's shopping, breweries, dining, etc.

Reply to A lonely holiday by Sexcercise
Sorry you're having a tough time but happy day after Christmas! The holidays can be tough and it does always sound like everyone has great plans but remember, a lot of people don't. They just don't talk about it as much. And if you want to be reminded of the reality of spending time with family, just read AITA today, lol. It is hard to be alone this time of year though, I get it. Go outside and enjoy the sunshine, you'll feel much better!

If you aren't planning a lot of outdoor adventures, you probably don't need waterproof. Like, you're going to be in town and hanging out? Regular boots will be fine. If you're planning on going snowshoeing, hiking, being out in the weather, get waterproof.

Yes. Mine, as it turns out, are only "water-resistant".

It's very common, whether it's legal or a good idea is a whole other matter.

This is very very true.
Also, people let their dogs off leash all the time (right or wrong). It's a very dog friendly state.

You can try snowshoeing at Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe. It's not hard and quite a nice way to get out in the winter.

Their selection is good, the prices are good, the prepared foods are pretty good. We go to the one in Warner NH sometimes when we're in the neighborhood. Much better than Shaw's or Price Chopper, which both totally suck.

There are so many more choices flying out of Montreal, especially for direct flights. The last time I did it the traffic getting there was horrible but if you're staying the night before you won't have to worry about it.

Don't love it. This was the only way to get to Denver direct. Maybe United will start again with this opening but I kind of doubt it.
