I’ve lived in Wayne, Luzerne, Center, Montgomery and Allegheny and spent a lot of time in both Lackawanna and Washington counties and there’s just nothing like the 412.

NEPA sucked. It felt like it was always 10 years behind the times and its glory days were all about coal. People showed no motivation to be more than what they were and many of us left when we came of age. State College was an oasis in a sea of similar backwardness with the locals looking down on the students who basically put their area on the map. The Philly suburbs were self service toxicity with too many people and most didn’t even look at those around them as they went about their business.

The Pittsburgh area OTOH has seemed like the complete package. Yes, it’s a rust belt town like Bethlehem and Nazareth in the eastern part of the state or Youngstown to the northwest but it aspires to be more with its universities, many different neighborhoods that are more complete than any town anywhere else in the Commonwealth and burgeoning technology industry. Even the North Side (despite its bad rap) has a certain “Mister Rodger’s Neighborhood” charm - at least during the daylight hours.

I don't understand the concern if he's doing 65 or why it's a concern if you were coming out of the tunnel while he was coming in. I'd be more concerned if he were switching lanes inside the tunnel, which some idiots are known for. I regularly drive through the Ft. Pitt, Liberty and Squirrel Hills tunnels and find that the traffic through latter and into the Parkway East is sometimes more aggressive. FWIW I sometimes get up to 65 inside the tunnel if traffic is light, but I'm not one to switch lanes or tailgate. I just learned to drive in another area that also has tunnels, but less traffic.

If you’re into the revolutionary war then on the way there take the National Highway (US-40) route through Washington PA eastward on through Fort Necessity then on to Ohiopyle If you like hiking/cycling. There are a lot of short trails in addition to the GAP trail along the Youghiogheny river along with a nice place to stop for lunch. Rt 70 back toward Philly is to the north.

The debate was painful to watch but in reality this was Oz's spectacle to lose. It was clear that he'd been coached with conservative talking points and the rapid fire pacing of the questions were throwing him off as well.

Quite frankly, there are career politicians in both parties who are collecting a government paycheck and a pension who have LONG degraded mentally. Even "debate" on the floor is a tame compared to how this televised debacle went.

Bear in mind that I'm not excusing Fetterman's responses but the whole "debate" was a spectacle that was engineered to make soundbytes for those who get their news off their Twitter feeds. I'm actually surprised that he even acquiesced to attend given how each candidate was given ridiculously low times limits to answer questions and make responses. It was clear that Fetterman's pauses were actually due to the teleprompter not keeping up with the theatrics.

Why wall it off to just the yinzers? The Pittsburgh region's population is bigger than some entire states in the US.

The OP is spot on though. I grew up in NEPA, went to school in State College and lived in King of Prussia for a couple of years before my Pittsburgh Princess got homesick and brought me home. Half a lifetime later I can't see myself living anywhere else.
