There are states with low gas taxes and high pump prices.

They can charge whatever they want to, and don’t have to say anything about why.

Capitalism: if gasoline prices are too high, open your own refinery and make your own gasoline.

Taxes are $0.18/gallon federal, $0.494/gallon state, plus sales tax (which varies by county).
Gas Buddy says Washington has the fourth highest average pump price per state. Some states with low taxes have high prices (e.g., Arizona).
Western states have unique gasoline formulas for air pollution control. Refiners will claim that as a factor in higher fuel prices.
If you can sell all the gasoline you can make at $5/gallon, why would you sell it at $2/gallon?

An inexpensive space heater would solve your problem. Under $40 at a hardware store, Target, Fred Meyer, Amazon, etc.
But it sounds like you’re looking for a lever to break your lease. Maybe find a local tenant rights group to help. And it might be smoother if you had someone lined up to take over your lease.

Sherrard Point on the Oregon side has astonishing views, it’s a shortish hike from Larch Mountain. Though the road up there might be snow closed.
The Stonehenge replica is kinda unusual.

My guess is that the Washington election cycle is decoupled from national elections to avoid backwash from national issues.
We have mail ballots, everyone gets one, free postage, they only thing the state doesn’t provide is a pencil. There’s no reason not to vote.

Sounds like WSDOT either needs to restrict parking to the lot only, or lower the speed through that section. My understanding of how old school highway safety works is, "if we have enough accidents on a section of road, then we might change something", but a DOT's primary remit is to make traffic flow faster.
You might want to contact Senator Sharon Shewmake, she is involved with traffic safety. Also contact your local representatives.

Washington is a small state, and there’s only one housing market where all housing is identical. Everyone on SSI moves to Texas.

Agreed. Great for motorcycling, bicycling, etc.
And you can buy amber safety glasses for $10. Also come in bifocal and in polarized.

Try wearing yellow safety glasses at night. It cuts down glare, and can help enhance contrast. That’s what my optometrist recommends. Works pretty well for me day or night.

Speak for yourself, please.
I’m pointing out that California is not a monolith either in terms of climate or of weather. Making sweeping generalizations about a geographically diverse area is ridiculous. Blatantly lying about another person’s comments is gaslighting, or, sadly, typical social media behavior.
