Agreed, it's a very fun scramble but probably best left for the summer months

Usually the trail is very busy all winter so it gets packed down quite well. Microspikes have always been good enough to get me to the 2nd lake. Seen many people do it in plain hiking boots. One year I did need snowshoes to make it from the 2nd to 3rd lake
