Exactly what I was thinking. I’ve been reading ‘A Distant Mirror— the calamitous 14th century’ by Barbara Tuchman and had to stop as the parallels were flipping me out.

I’m with you that people should parent in the right spirit.

Another ‘it’s all about me’ quote. Some things we do for others, not because it serves us, is a personal growth experience or makes us happy. Example: there are definitely times when your baby howls with colic, your toddler is demanding or your teen is about to do something life threatening and you help out of love, your commitment and compassion, not because your kid is serving you, or you feel it’s a growth experience or are happy.

Awesome advice for trust founders and other wealthy people, because they do indeed have what they need today and will tomorrow. They have won and can be grateful knowing there’s no need to compete or fret. The rest of us can be grateful for what we have and strategize on how to get enough of what we need for today and tomorrow. It doesn’t mean we’re bitter or jealous of other’s successes but we’re realistic.
