Pretty sure that's the Jacobsons organ, and in reptiles in general it just looks like that actually.

That is also intetesting because snakes use it to "taste" the world around them, so the finger covering it could represent a numbness or, alternatevely, some form of pleasure.

I agree with you that it is an accurate reproduction but the way the fingers are situated still seems to be intended to me
