The start button crapped out on ours after a little over a year of use. Replaced it with a button from an old PC and it's still going strong at about the 7 year mark.

Our button board has been flakey for years. Press one button and another gets activated. Probably almost 10 years of use though and it still works well enough that it feels wasteful to replace it. I wouldn’t call our Breville toaster super robust though.

Try this if you're comfortable soldering.

It made ours like new. Hoping for another 7 years! :)

Wow, thanks for this. I can solder, so maybe I’ll give it a shot. Doesn’t sound like a very fun job though. Super tempting to have a toaster that doesn’t fight me… 🤔

Same here. Bought 2 Brevilles over a 3 year period and both crapped out.

Ours does, too! You press Start and sometimes it changes from F to C, or sometimes it just starts. I could fix it, but instead I just giggle to myself whenever it happens. 8 years old.

Oh! But the convection fan is on its last leg and the interior light doesn't work.

Button went bad on my Breville toaster as well. Thanks for the idea. Maybe I’ll take it apart and put a plain old momentary switch in

This solution helped a lot.

It really wasn't that bad to do. Took about 3 hours including rounding up the tools. I think I used the 'reset' button out of an old PC.
