I've been finding that the black grippy plastic on oxo "good grips" degenerates into a sticky crumbling mess over time. I hate their products so much.

Me too. They also take up way too much space in the dishwasher and the drawer with those huge plastic handles

I have had that happen with some home tools but not with kitchen stuff.

I wonder if it's related to the detergent I use.

Good question, different materials probably have different triggers that cause them to degrade. I trust anything plastic less and less every day.

It’s usually oils and fats that degrade plastic, not detergent.
