A month ago I wrote this post asking for recommendations on casual winter Chelsea-style boots and since then I haven't bought anything because the winter conditions where I'm located (southern Ontario, Canada) have been atypically mild so far that I've been managing with my current pair of shoes but I'm long overdue for a pair of boots anyway. After giving it some consideration, I've been thinking to buy casual lace-up boots if I decide not to go with the Chelsea-style.

I am a male with a budget of $250 CAD. Will be wearing the boots in suburban and urban environments with ice, snow and rain at temperatures that can reach -20 C (hasn't really dipped that low this winter where I live) or lower. I would prefer if the boots have removable insoles.

I'd still recommend Baffin. I lived where you live for several years and that's what I wore there.

I think I've seen those in shoe stores but didn't pay much attention to them. Will take a closer look at them.

I'd recommend looking into Canada West Boots, they have a wide variety of styles.

Here is a list of Ontario retailers: https://www.canadawestboots.com/ontario

Their WM Moorby boots look good, but unfortunately the one retailer in my city that carries their products only has their work boots.

It is is worth it to figure out your sizing and then just buy online as they only sell through small retailers. You can find these for really good price on clearance. For example I got these for $140 CAD at the end of last year from here.

They only have one size left and reduced it to $100 now. Considering an iron ranger costs $450 CAD that is a steal for a made in North America boot.

Danner mountain 600 are my main winter boot. I live in suburban Minneapolis so I’d guess similar conditions

I like the style of those boots.

Do they have removable insoles? Forgot to add that in my post.

I live in Minnesota and work for UPS, I also wear the full grain leather Danner mountain 600 boots. If you wear proper socks, they are warm enough for most conditions.

Edit durability: Mine are going through the third winter. They are probably in need of a new insole, and I am getting tread wear. They are not resoleable, so I'd say they are a 2-6 year boot depending on how much abuse and care you give them.
