I grew up playing the violin recreationally high school and college but only play it off and on since I left. I don’t have any musical connections here and was wondering what repair shops are recommended in the area to have my violin bow restrung? I have a basic bow that came with my Snow violin, I’ll pay what’s needed but don’t have top line equipment.

Thanks!

*rehair

The violin probably also needs new strings, but the bow needs a rehair.

Johnson strings will be a good fit for a student instrument, but if you want somewhere closer, Acoustic Strings of New England is at the Armory in Somerville.

He doesn’t do violin work AFAIK, but Gian Pangaro, located near Davis Sq might still be able to do this, or refer you to a luthier who can.

I had him do a full setup on my double bass a few years ago, he did great work!
