Does anyone think police officers in Connecticut do enough enforcement of driving laws? Today I saw a car go through an intersection several seconds after the light turned red with a cop sitting off to the side. Cop did absolutely nothing!!! Another situation I saw the other day was a car going more than 40 in a 30 zone. A cop was sitting right off to the side. Once again, nothing done at all!! Like why even bothering sitting there if they are not going to enforce anything. Look I have so much respect for police officers I always have and they are such important people but I do feel they do tend be a bit relaxed with certain driving behaviors. I'm always curious with anything driving related on this page and love hearing everyone's thoughts.

I think it depends where you live. My husband got pulled over in Lisbon, small town who does not have a police station so state troopers are in charge. We are not from the area and he drove like maybe 5-7 miles over the speed limit, the state trooper who pulled him over was so aggressive and mad you’d think we led him through an across town chase.

We were so stunned by his behavior that we just sat there in silence completely bewildered giving him what he needed. Ultimately he didn’t give us a ticket and said to be careful next time, and when I said thank you he looked so smug and proud of himself as if he saved the world.

Such a surreal experience and completely unnecessary.

Wow the fact that he got pulled over for going 5-7 is just crazy. I never have any problem going 5-10 over. It's insane that I saw someone not get pulled over for going 12-13 over but your husband gets pulled over for 5-7.

I know that’s what I thought the general rule was as well 5-10 over is ok, his behavior was worse than the being pulled over part. He was extremely aggressive right away

I regularly see this exact thing, can’t give me some bs that this is normal.

Even cops drive like assholes in their work vehicles. Had a New Haven cop tailgate the shit out of me yesterday morning in traffic. I couldn’t switch lanes or don’t anything but speed and I’ll be damned if you’re pushing me to get a ticket doing 60 in a 35.

Fuck you, flash your lights and sirens. Don’t be a part of the problem officer and tailgate me like an idiot.

Want to drag race? Blow thru red lights? Then come on down to New Haven where we never enforce traffic violations!

No sense in the police wasting their time. City courts don't do anything.

They are sitting there because that's their patrol area, so if there's a call nearby they can have a quick response. Like if someone has a medical emergency or there's a burglary they can respond right away.

Or they're doing their paperwork and not actually watching the traffic.

Yeah that too. Apparently the administrative burden of the job sucks.

Fairfield is getting crazy. Regularly see people do 45-60 down 25’s. I see some cops get them, but vast majority seem to continue it daily.

Per the cops I do know, traffic enforcement is down anecdotally as it isn’t worth the trouble.

In 2016 I had a new (used) Dodge Charger. Loved that car. I don't like to speed too much (like, I go up to 80; I know that's fast to a lot of people but it's pretty standard CT left lane), but one day I was driving back from the cool new job that allowed me to get the car, and not paying a spectacular amount of attention, and I drove onto the Gold Star Bridge (speed limit: 50) going 86. Cop right there. Nothin'.

I was never quite sure if he wasn't watching, didn't care, or saw a silver Charger go by way too fast and just assumed it was another statey. I could've been arrested, technically.

Did you see speed measuring equipment? Have you seen people drive these days?

The govt you elected doesn't want to prosecute and jail crooks, but 10 over is an issue?

40 in a 30? lol, give us a break.

Just remember when they when thru the whole defund pd there are groups out there that went against police and traffic stops . .. but If they do pull people over you get 20 year social media lawyers giving the pd shit . And than things escalate and the officer get jammed up .. so it’s easier for them to just sit on side of road .. thank all the people that are shit bag and the people that defend them for putting the rest of society at risk

If the cops can't do their jobs they shouldn't get paid. No one is entitled to an easy job, especially when they get a full pension after 20 and have power of life and death over free citizens.

Oh I know people have a hard time realizing that alot of the stuff going on with crime is results of the protests .. I’m 100% about holding cop’s accountable for going over the line but I also know we need them out there arresting people pulling people over . Letting people know it’s not a free for all out there ..

It's not a free for all out there. If it really was every bank would get robbed inside of a week.
