FOUR RECORDS SET AT 2022 MANCHESTER ROAD RACE

In addition to the stunning course record of 21:04 that was set by open champion Conner Mantz, three other records were authored by runners at the Manchester Road Race on Thanksgiving Day.

Andrew Colley, who finished fourth overall last Thursday with a net time of 21:06.202, broke the prior record of 21:28 in the men’s 30-39 age group that was previously held by John Gregorek.

Chris Chrisholm’s time of 26:40 was a new record in the men’s 60-64 age bracket, eclipsing Russell Blatt’s old mark of 27:56.

In the men’s 80-84 division, Hal Bennett set a new standard with a 41:05 effort. His time broke the old record of 41:30 that was held by the late Bill Tribou.

Some context…Connor Mantz won the 2020 and 2021 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships before turning pro. Then won the USA Half Marathon Championship. This past October he ran his debut marathon in Chicago in 2:08.

The top 5 runners broke the previous overall record this year! Top four finishers were within ~3 seconds of each other. Incredible field.

Mantz pocketed $9k for winning and breaking the record.

Amazing performances all around. I have to say though I am blown away by Hal Bennet, 80 years old and an average pace of 8:29/mile is incredible. Peter Madden (2nd place in the 80-84 division) is a family friend and I know how hard he trains (run, bike, swim basically everyday) and he ran 11:15/mile which imo is still so impressive for 83 years old.

I think I'll be happy if I'm just able to finish the race at 80!

Chris Chisolm is quite a talent as well he's been running forever and I hope he can keep it up.
