I've tried unsuccessfully for yearssss to get my fiance into backpacking and camping. At this point i'd just go by myself but it's never as nice when you're going solo and don't have anyone to share the views with :(

Anyone else in a similar boat? Let's chat and maybe we can get some camping in before it gets too cold.

I'd prefer someone with a lot of experience. Someone who knows all the good hiking and camping spots! I have all my own gear and I thru-hiked the AT so I shouldn't have any problem keeping up with you!

There’s a CT hiking and outdoors group on FB that has a massive amount of people and there are routine “looking for hiking buddy” posts. Definitely try there as well, you will probably get better results.

I’m not planning on doing any fall camping this year, and I’ve only done the NE portion of the AT. I would say with pretty strong resolve that CT hiking and camping for the serious enthusiast is a bit lackluster compared to driving a few hours to the Berkshires or the White Mountains. However there is sleeping giant for day hikes with your doggie and Mt Graylock for a bit more difficulty. Ivey probably had the best time camping out at Black Rock but again it is nothing close to the kind of campsite near a big trail or mountain that a serious hiker would be looking for

I prefer camping in the colder weather; there are less bugs and people to deal with lol. If you’re looking to camp in CT it depends on what you’re looking to do, some places are good for hiking, some are good for camping, harder to find a good combination of both.

Damn. I'm honestly not terribly experienced, but interesting in trying with one or more friends. None interested that I know though.

Lot of stories of people getting murdered in the woods might do that to people.

Have you considered just going to a camp ground? It's a nice alternative to proper "ruffing it".
