Not in his wheelhouse, unfortunately. He's on the Senate's judiciary committee which (partially) oversees the justice dept. He's focusing on Twitter because they're violating a settlement with the Justice Department. Connecticut has no senators on the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources
Though I'm not sure what the rush is, at this rate Twitter is going to be five dudes telling Elon he's making all the right decisions while the infrastructure keeping the site up collapses around them. It ain't long for this world

people have been saying "twitter is currently breaking, it will be down within hours" since the day he bought it. i don't get why people don't understand that twitter is just like any other company: half the workforce can be removed and still be fully functional.

Eversouce is a matter for *State* Senators. Blumenthal is a Fed. Twitter is highly influential on a Nationwide basis. And can be used by trolls and assorted people that mean to do us harm to create all kinds of fuckery with the economy or politicians. And Twitter previously signed a Consent Decree with the DOJ. I for one am glad Blumenthal and the Congress are keeping a close eye on Twitter and other social media.
Darkling5499 t1_ix4ksab wrote
It was also used by the DoJ / DHS to remove unfavorable information, in direct violation of the 1st amendment. That's the only reason there's calls for an investigation - they're worried about losing their once-hidden backdoor to censorship.

Not to mention that the FTC is a JOKE when it comes to protection people on the internet. They can't even get spam/scam cell phone calls under control.

Well most of the security team left. So yeah, it’s worthwhile to talk about now. Of course it was also in focus before as well with their former CISO acting as a whistleblower. It’s been in focus, you just didn’t hear about it.

I’m sure you will get very well thought out responses from both of them acknowledging the fact that they were both 100% wrong and they definitely won’t be active elsewhere on Reddit shame avoiding this before the day is over. Totally
Edit: One of them has since been active and was also lecturing another user about swallowing one’s pride. You cannot make this kind of shit up. The internet is an irony machine
Called it. So very easy to predict what these little creatures will do

They had legitimate reasons for those investigations. What reasons other than the fact that Musk bought Twitter do they have for investigating them now?
And what did any of those have to do with "swaying public opinion"?

They didn't give a shit when Twitter was banning people for "wrongthink", or when it was taking "advice" from the White House on what information to ban.

Very cool. You are saying all of this now, and did not, and were not, saying it earlier. That is goal post moving 101
