It's more to do with the fact that someone crashed into his vehicle and killed him

Maybe if his department didn’t have such a rich history of drunk off duty cops wrecking cars and killing themselves, or on duty cops driving 85 MPH in the right lane into a slow moving tractor trailer and… killing themselves people wouldn’t make these sorts of assumptions.
