Holy shit, that’s incredible. I definitely missed this! Thank you!
Cool!! I notice it is heavily skewed towards certain parts of CT. Any recs for eastern CT that are missing from the list?
Yup, I live in Eastern CT too. Not a ton out this way. Maharaja in Mansfield is really good though!
Oh man you’re missing out if you’re not going to Wing Express in Storrs. Indian and Buffalo wings. Both are excellent.
I know it exists, but unfortunately I’m just not a big wing person :(
It’s not wings. Well it is, but they do traditional wings and separate traditional Indian food. Just don’t order wings. The Indian food is incredible
Oh okay, good to know! I’ll check it out!
My Indian (and very particular) wife says this is her favorite Indian food in the state and we’ve eaten at pretty much every Indian restaurant outside of the panhandle
Definitely a ringing endorsement then! Awesome 🤩
Oh awesome, thank you!!! We have a LOT of regional cuisine out here, not sure why we’re so underrepresented on that list.
I’m sad cus Ivy Wok literally closed not long after that post :(((
God bless america
Such a good question. You never know if it’s American fusion or tastes like back home. Interested to read comments
ITT: people ignoring the thread title and just posting their favorite ethnic restaurants.
Banana Brazil in Hartford!! Plus a couple other locations in the state!
Mina’s carne is better for Brazilian is better
Is that the one on New Park, just past the movie theater?
Yep. So 🔥. Haven’t been there in a while tho.
The only place in the entire state that serves food from my home country is my kitchen, but Mama Chow is a relatively ok approximation. Zul Cafe for a decent rendition of another country that I'd lived in for a while.
Zul Cafe is opening in New Haven as well
Brazil Grill in a Hartford is authentic Brazilian food and absolutely excellent. Check it out if you like fresh meats of all sorts.
Really good but so expensive
Agreed it is expensive. They weigh your plate and charge you based on the weight. It’s a little bizarre.
The only ones I can think of are
There's Zul Cafe and Grill in Norwalk but I haven't tried that one.
Zul is better than Kayumangi and Tindahan. Haven't tried Middletown Market.
In Torrington:
Las Delicias Latina is about the most authentic no frills Mexican you're going to get in Connecticut.
Geppetto ~ Osteria e Bisteccheria is a fantastic new Italian place that is more modern Italian fare.
Chez Ben in Manchester. Better poutines than back home.
Okay this is like the third time I’ve had someone recommend Chez Ben’s poutine. I’ve never had it and I want some SO BADLY. Guess I know where I’m going!
Keep this going!!!! Great idea, I want this list to grow so I can try all of the places.
I love going to Long Wharf Drive for Mexican Food. Edit : Wharf
Paradise Biryani in Norwalk for biryani
Mambo’s in New London

u/Briguy1994 made this list last year and it seems pretty comprehensive
