Two J’s Crab Shack locations — the main location at 2074 Park St. in Hartford and the secondary in Hartford’s Parkville market — have permanently closed, according to the owner of both locations.

Owner James Tinker said the lingering effects of the pandemic are the reason for the closures.

“Prior to the pandemic I was doing 50, 60 grand a week. After the pandemic it was just tough to make ends meet. I mean, $20,000 a week doesn’t cut it,” he said.

This sucks. I service the restaurants kitchen exhaust systems and it has been hard to stay afloat myself. Not sure how much longer I can last with good accounts like this going out of business. Pandemics and the way it was handled really hurt us in the food industry.

Restaurant industry collapsing in CT. The survivors will make out. I just hope the survivors are not all chain restaurants.

Don't forget low pay exacerbating high turnover. There's such downward pressure on pay in back of the house that you may as well stock shelves. Meanwhile servers are making 20% off your bill for wandering out with your plate raising the bill even higher.

A hellish state to operate any small business in. Shame too, tinkers was a good spot.

Lots of seafood places closing. Hopefully that makes way for one really good one in the Hartford Area
