I've mentioned Culper in a couple - but haven't focused exclusively on it. There are so many excellent PBS and other shows on it, I don't know that I'd add much to the narrative, but it IS on my radar screen!

If anyone would like to know more details about Nathan Hale, his capture, and the Culper ring spy network in general, I’d recommend reading: Washington’s Spies: The Story of America’s First Spy Ring , by Alexander Rose. It goes into very in-depth details about the man who was responsible for catching young Hale as well as accounts of witnesses who were at the hanging. This book was later adapted to the television show on AMC- Turn: Washington’s Spies

Another take people might be interested in is The Martyr and the Traitor by Virginia DeJohn Anderson.

It talks about Hale, plus another young man from Connecticut (Moses Dunbar) who ended up spying for the British and being hanged. The broader historical question it explores is about how people chose sides and who gets remembered. Pretty cool book.

And the amazing thing was that, back then, even officers fought for one side or another - like CEOs shifting from one company to another today. Rogers (the guy who most historians say captured Hale) later fought for the Patriot side, after the Revolutionary War had ended. No hard feelings.

Thanks, I enjoyed watching the series "TURN" on AMC about the Culper spy ring

Although there was embellishments and some freelance work on the scripts it still was a good rendition of the Culper spy ring and those involved

Keep up the good work! 👍
