Sounds like a perfect use for small claims court (depending on how detailed your contracts/receipts are)

Yeah zero contracts. I've never been to a mechanic that writes anything up before work. They tell you what they need to do, do it and you pay them. Course I don't go to any fancy dealers or anything I drive cars that aren't worth high end repairs... Sadly

Bicycles are stolen for the same reason, and Scrap Yards, and some Bike Shops, will purchase them, no questions asked; Bicycles also don't have VIN numbers.
