There are no tabs/clips to slide/push to un-hinge the drawer from the slider. It's a file cabinet.. and it's very heavy and unyieldy. Need to carry it upstairs.. taking drawers off might reduce the weight and make it easy to carry.

That makes sense. Am I screwed, then?

Good time to learn how slides are attached. Or in your case unattached and then reattached correctly. You tube has videos.https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=drawer+slides

That little black clip, is there another one further back in the drawer? Those typically will release the rail.

Take it off at the screws mate, done. Post the slider after you remove the drawer. It will all go back together even if its MDF boards.

Is it the kind that you can open the drawer full length, pull up and lift it out, maybe.

Nope. This one has roller balls instead of just the roller that you can lift.

Looks like the part attached to the drawer is on backwards. (As in the wrong side). The black clip should be in the back.
