Is this flooded with tourists like in the States?

I’ve never seen more than ~15 people there at any given time.

It may be. Been a min since I’ve seen the movie but I felt it was the river Frodo crosses to escape the Uruk-hai in the first film. Sam tries to follow and sinks for a moment.

Had a blast jumping into that glacial water from the bridge!

Was it chilly or what was that experience? Time of year would impact that. We were there in the late fall. It snowed on us once.

I think it was October. No snow but super cold water. Jumping off was the first rush but hitting that freezing water was quite the shock.

I believe the Amon Hen scenes were filmed near Closeburn, 8km from Queenstown. Similar sort of area.
I've actually rafted the Hokitika, it's one of the most beautiful places you'll ever see.

I’d imagine that was great.
