I went here back in November and got there at sunrise. It was freezing ass cold, windy and I was practically running that trail to get there before the light hit. It was an underwhelming sunrise but it was still pretty awesome to see such an iconic place. I just don't see how the people in Utah/Arizona ever get used to be surrounded by such beauty.

I've taken this picture but yours is sooooo much nicer. Thanks for sharing.

I did the same. Forced my wife to get up early and we ran the trail to get about 15min of pics before it was ruined by the sun. Not a cloud in sight. Pics were worth it because we went back with the rest of the family the the harsh shadows killed it.

Now that I have been there. Every picture of horseshoe bend doesn't do justice to just how large it really is.

That's awesome...I've lived in Arizona over half my life, mostly in show low or right outside it... Where is this place?

Part of being a photographer is just knowing you can't convey what it feels to be standing there taking in the grandeur of the view.

I bet you are a great one too. A shot that wide needs special lenses. 11mm on FF?

Been a while since I hiked that much.

Gotta go back there again too. We also did Antelope Canyon since its like 10min away but there was so much wind it was blow sand and quite large rocks into the canyon so we got rushed.

My dad is a photographer and he’s spending a few months down there right now. We went and visited him- he won’t even leave the house if there’s no clouds in the sky because ‘a clear blue sky is the worst thing in photography’

I canoed around this. There is actually a campsite and toilet right on the tip of the bend on the river.

No picture can do justice how massive this actually is.

If you haven't seen it, it's 1000 feet tall, and this photographer is overlooking a sheer cliff.

Ha, almost same location and focal length as my shot here. I'm sure you were dangling your camera at or over the edge.

Gorgeous shot but pics never do it full justice. I didn't realize how massive that canyon is until I saw it in person and I was blown away.

I'm headed there next month, curious how wide of a lens you shot this with.

I was just there last weekend. It is massive. It's hard to comprehend unless you are in person. Honestly, spending most of my life only seeing things in pictures there is simply no replacement for seeing it, feeling it in person.

My big take away from that trip was the absolutely unfathomable amount of sand that is gone. How much had to have been there, above where I stood and above the towering monuments of sandstone to create that sandstone. It makes you feel really, really small.

Very nice job. It is hard to get the lighting right without harsh shadows.

That’s such a good spot for nature and photography enthusiasts. You are within a 2-3 hour drive of countless national parks and recreation areas and the land is so wide open even the driving feels like driving through a painting

Hmm, that would be a lot of rock to erode through for that river to oxbow

Facts. Its amazing people dont fall in on a daily basis there. We saw a guy jump the railing and trip. Inches from going in because he was going for a IG video or something. Ridiculous.

Really 14mm? Nice. I just checked my photos and realized I mainly was looking at the film sots which were 24mm, because its a film camera. My other one was 16mm and was quite close though I didn't get to this nice of a spot.
