I live just miles from this magic maze of moss, moving water, and mountainous rock formations all resplendent in their pristine, preserved place. If you have the chance to go here it is food fo your soul. I never get tired of it, even after years and thousands of trips into this bossom of the earth.

Ha! Not an easy place for true landscape photography, at least not unless you head up fifteen miles onto Mount Olympus. I think you captured it perfectly! It's messy, alive and green! Nice shot!

Thank you! Yes, it feels VERY alive while you're there

Good work! The most difficult thing about shooting in the rainforest is the amount of visual chaos that comes through the camera lens. Excellent job capturing the chaos but with some visual appealing order to it.

Definitely a lot of chaos. Tried to find multiple angles to fill up my frame as best as possible!

The colors on the Hall of Mosses were so unreal and hard to capture with my iPhone. Seriously one of the most magical feeling places I’ve ever been.

Rainforest

Context: I’ve seen many ultrawide angle photos of the Hoh Rainforest and wanted to experiment with a different perspective. I don’t own a true telephoto, so I ended up using my standard zoom at 105mm. I tried multiple angles, but I will say composition at Hoh is very difficult. Despite what social media posts, the forest is populated with evergreens and is not as bog-like as what you see online. The gnarly leaves and branches make the photo look distracting and it is hard to frame. I used two tree barks to frame this photo, but if you’d like to see my ultrawide angle photo, it is on my Instagram. I usually like to have a clear subject in my photos, but with this much going on, it’s probably best to call this abstract landscape photography. Thanks for viewing and if you want to see more of my work, please check out my Facebook page and Instagram.
