Yeah that's what I thought! We had dinner one of the days at Berggasthaus Bollenwees which is right on the end of that lake. When we were there the lake was like 90% dry though so it definitely didn't look like that, but the valley looked very familiar.

Great photos.

There is this mountain range called Alpstein in Appenzell, consisting of lots of peaks and 3 absolutely beautiful lakes (the one on the picture being one of them). If you have time and some good hiking boots, you must go on some hikes there!

I am fully convinced that Switzerland is not real. No place can be this stunningly beautiful without CGI. It's gotta be a conspiracy 😂

Living in the old man mountains (Appalachia) I thought I’d be immune to the alps and their wildlife.

I was not. So impossibly beautiful and demanding of awe.

I'm American and it's one of my dreams to go to Switzerland and just explore the Swiss Alps. But due to cost restraints and now having kids, I don't know that I'll ever be able to visit them. Pictures like this are as close as I may ever get. Thank you for this beautiful picture.

I love this. Is there a word for when only some light gets through the clouds and some areas are brightly illuminated? I love to see this in photos.

I was in Appenzel some 20 years ago and even if it’s not the most touristy destination, wherever I looked, I could have taken a post card worthy picture

We used to go to Adelboden, Berner Oberland and I absolutely loved the way the clouds would come down the mountains on a rainy day. Switzerland is beautiful!

TG is great, beautiful farmland and rolling hills, and far away from the crowded cities and the tourist places. I've spent a lot of time there visiting friends. But oh my, I don't know how you survive November to January with about 2 sunny days per month. I guess I am spoiled living in the Sunshine State...

Trivia: lots of the locations in lord of the rings have roots in Tolkien's visit to Switzerland.

I'd love to watch the movies shot in Switzerland, but New Zealand is a good second choice.

Reminds me of the Lake District in England. I visited with the husband. I warned him not to get to close the water because the ground might be soft. He didn't listen and tried to take a picture and fell on his butt. The driver on the tour tried to help brush him off.
